Iranian food culture presented to world food industry, publishers
The big event
attended by the giants of food industry and publication was held on March 20-22
at United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
headquarters in Paris, with Iranian cuisine being introduced to the world
through cookbooks of the female chef Samira Janatdoust.
Janatdoust, the
author of several top ranking cookbooks at the global Gourmand Awards, was
invited to the international event, cohosted by UNESCO and Gourmand
International, to present Iranian cuisine and food culture.
Iran’s
representative was invited to the event as a special guest for her books that
had been awarded as the best works on food and pastries in the world.
At the event, representatives
of 15 countries that were winners of the past three years were given exclusive stands
to present their books to the publishing giants and renowned figures from
across the world.
Iran with
Janatdoust’s books, known as Paniz cookbooks, was among the 15 countries.
During the
event, also, negotiations with parties from more than 50 countries, including
the US, Russia, Italy, Germany, and Austria, were held.
The gathering
was aimed at introducing the best cookbooks as well as food culture of nations
to the top chefs and publishers of the world.
Samira
Janatdoust has written seven books on foods, pastries, desserts, and drinks,
five of which were designated as the best in the world.
Gourmand
International, the organizer of Gourmand Awards, which is the biggest and the
most prestigious cookbooks contest in the world, also known as the Oscar of
cooking, was founded by the French Edouard Cointreau in 1995. The contest is
free with no limitation for prospective participants.
